For Hand Pain, Prolotherapy Is A
Great Alternative To Surgery In Most Cases

Prolotherapy is a wonderful treatment for hand pain.

My favorite story is about Johnnie Morton, Jr, an NFL football star. Although I have seen Prolotherapy have "miracle healings" on many patients, the healing of Johnnie's hand injury was extremely notable.

One day Johnnie was in office complaining about a jammed finger. At the same time, my friend and teacher (and a prolific best-selling author), John-Roger (J-R) was in the office.

I asked J-R if he would like to watch Prolotherapy being administered to Johnnie. At the moment the needle touched Johnnie’s finger, J-R said, “It’s healed."
Johnnie and I looked at each other in disbelief.

The next morning, Johnnie called me and said it was true that his finger healed instantly. I called J-R and asked what happened since I thought Prolotherapy takes a while to do the healing.

J-R said, “It wasn’t Prolotherapy, it was the electromagnetic energy that went through the needle." I was pretty shocked by his response, and that opened my mind to the different potentials of healing that are possible.

This situation also made me realize that I was not the one doing the healing. Prolotherapy has worked in wonderful ways, sometimes immediately, which I previously thought was the numbing action of lidocaine, and sometimes over a period of months. It’s impossible to predict.

That said, I have done Prolotherapy treatments all over the hand for pain. Since we constantly use our hands, there are so many ways to injure them in different areas.

Arthritis is one of the most common issues that create hand pain and deformity. Although Prolotherapy doesn’t often reduce deformities, it is very good in increasing range of motion in fingers that can not bend. These are common injuries in ball players of any kind.

A famous basketball player came into my office complaining that his “pinky” was stuck extended. He had been treated in many other body parts with Prolotherapy, and because of the success, asked if Prolotherapy could allow him to bend his finger again. I told him I didn’t think so, but he wanted to give it a try. All it took was an injection in two parts of the swollen knuckle, and his finger was bending again and he was ready to play ball.

I get many older female patients that have nodules on their fingers that are swollen from arthritis. This is often passed on from mother to daughter. Prolotherapy usually works in 1 to 3 sessions to decrease the pain, reduce the swelling, and increase the range of motion.

Many gardeners have base of the thumb arthritis. In these cases,  Prolotherapy injections have been a great healing tool.

All the best towards living pain free!
