Knee Pain
Knee injuries often have a serious affect on those who experience them. Unfortunately, the amount of people experiencing a knee injury is very high, and only getting higher. The knee is one of the most used joints in the body, working hard to help us move from one place to the other. Because we use our knees so much, we notice it that much more when it’s damaged. Knee injuries can happen on levels of varying severity, and great care should be taken when choosing a course of action to treat your knee pain.
I will be honest, there are some extreme cases of knee pain or injury that require invasive surgical procedures, and will not respond to prolotherapy. But these instances are far more infrequent than people believe, and tend to only be relevant to professional athletes who experience extreme injuries. Prolotherapy knee injections should effectively regenerate all damaged areas, it’s effectiveness only limited in cases where the ligament is completely torn. Even a partially torn ligament will benefit from prolotherapy treatments.
Prolotherapy knee treatments should be seriously considered as an alternative to knee surgery. Surgery is expensive and dangerous, not to mention all the potential post-operative complications and inconveniences. Prolotherapy is a proven way to fight against chronic knee pain. Isn’t it worth trying before letting someone cut into you?
Some doctors will say that a knee brace is an appropriate alternative to surgery, as they are meant to stabilize the area, preventing further injury and encouraging the area to heal. Recently, however, there has been some doubt as to how effect knee braces are as a form of treatment. The wide use of knee braces has been linked to sports, as anyone can turn on the TV and see a professional athlete wearing one. If it’s good enough for professional athletes, it’s got to be good for everyone, right? Wrong. Use of a knee brace is only necessary for extreme injuries that are at risk because of activity. Those using knee braces with no affiliation with sports or high levels of strenuous activity often complain that their knee brace causes more discomfort than relief. Patients with knee braces complain of restricted mobility and discomfort, saying that it often slips out of place. Additionally, a custom made knee brace can cost over $1,000.
Prolotherapy knee injections have been proven to decrease knee pain and encourage the body’s healing processes to regenerate collagen and soft tissues. Prolotherapy knee treatments are a worthy alternative to invasive surgery and inconvenient knee braces.
PROLOTHERAPY CAN HELP YOUR KNEE PAIN
They say the knees are the first to go. I’m not sure that is true since I see so many patients of all ages with all types of musculoskeletal pain that heal from Prolotherapy treatment.
Nevertheless, not a day goes by that I don’t treat knee problems, and patients seeking knee pain relief . It doesn’t seem to matter what the patient’s knee diagnosis is in order for knee Prolotherapy to work.
Prolotherapy injections have been instrumental in avoidance of needless knee surgeries in my Los Angeles clinic. Many of my patients have already had one or two or three knee surgeries by the time they see me in hopes of avoiding a knee replacement.
One of these patients was the former UCLA star and NFL Dolphin’s football player, Abdul-Karim Al-Jabbar who had four knee surgeries for meniscal tears. When Al-Jabbar arrived in my office, his knee had been chronically swollen.
Commenting on his knee pain, Al-Jabbar stated, “I knew my knee was a mess, but after the first Prolotherapy injection, it was like a miracle. I had swelling in my knee for ten years, and within a within a week the swelling was gone and the knee pain hasn’t returned.”
Abdul-Karim Al-Jabbar – Prolotherapy Patient
Specific to Prolotherapy, Al-Jabbar stated, “Obviously, if I would have known about Prolotherapy before all the surgeries, I definitely would have had the injections instead.”
The healing of Abdul-Karim’s knee was a miracle, and most knees with as much damage do not heal this quickly.
Knees do, however, often heal faster than other body parts.
I have seen knee joint pain and instability from ACL tears or strains, medial and lateral collateral tears and strains, patellofemoral pain, Osgood Schlatter’s disease, arthritis, meniscal tears, and many other syndromes or injuries disappear after Prolotherapy treatments.
