"What About The Prolotherapy Controversy?"
That is a common question I receive from patients that come to me for all types of chronic and acute pain including back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, and neck pain. Just what are the pros and cons of prolotherapy?
While I could spend a lot of time talking about the clinical advantages of Prolotherapy treatment(compared to invasive surgery), below you will find a very thorough overview of this unique, pain management therapy. (You'll also see Prolotherapy spelled as "prolo" and "prolo therapy.")
The benefits of Prolotherapy are widely known and accepted by several, leading pain management specialists. In fact, Dr. C. Everett Koop, the former United States Surgeon General, recently stated, "I saw remarkable benefits when the method was used with proper indications. Certainly, if used properly, Prolotherapy does no harm but can be of extraordinary benefit."

If you are currently experiencing different types of chronic pain, acute pain, joint pain, or other pain management issues, I strongly encourage you to learn more about Prolotherapy prior to any surgical procedure. This website will help you better understand the benefits of Prolotherapy.
"So... What Is Prolotherapy Treatment?"
The term "Prolotherapy" is short for "proliferation therapy." Proliferation, of course, means "rapid production." What Prolotherapy rapidly produces is collagen and cartilage, the soft tissues of the body, which stimulates the immune system's own healing mechanism.
Prolotherapy heals the entire musculoskeletal system- from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet, and everything in between.
Collagen is a naturally-occurring protein in the body that is a necessary element for the formation of connective tissue - the tissues that holds the skeletal infrastructure together. These tissues include tendons, ligament, muscle fascia, joint capsular tissue, and the cartilage on the inside of our joints.
Prolotherapy helps generate collagen through a series of mild chemical injections which stimulate the immune system's healing mechanism.
The newly generated collagen and cartilage strengthens and restores joints and supporting soft tissue, reducing or eliminating many different types of pain including:

Prolotherapy treatments do not require invasive surgery to eliminate acute or chronic pain. Rather, prolotherapy offers a safe, non-surgical and effective treatment for patients interested in living a pain-free life.

Millions of Prolotherapy injections are given each year by hundreds of physicians across the United States and the rest of the world. In Los Angeles, California, I have treated thousands of patients with all different types of pain management issues. Because of the safe and effective benefits of Prolotherapy treatment, patients avoided unnecessary, surgical procedures.
Some patients that have found Prolotherapy to successfully relieve their pain are:
All the best towards living pain free!!
